veggie in UAE

I've been quite enjoying how easy it is to be vegan in the UAE.  I just tried the traditional breakfast, which is a bowl of beans (foul moudames), topped with red onion, diced tomato and lemon.
Foul moudames (this name makes me think of lady chickens)

I've also been pretty much living on traditional foods otherwise - here's a lunch spread of hummus (middle), tabbouleh (all parsley - no bulgar wheat, good for a happy tummy!), Arabic bread (just like pita) and fattoushe (salad with lemon vinaigrette and pita crisps, it's half gone in this photo).  Definitely my favorite lunch so far!  They put an amazing assortment of olives, raw veggies (cuke, spinach, mint, cabbage, carrots, tomato, lemon), various salty pickles and bread on the table before whatever you ordered too!  I pretty much could have eaten the appetizers and had plenty.  And, finally, lentil soup is a traditional dish - I'd have taken a photo of it for tonight's dinner but I was starving, so you'll just have to take my word for it.  The soup is a smooth yellow soup (I'm guessing made with red lentils and pureed), topped with lemon and served with Arabic bread.  No chance of a veggie going hungry here!  #ibmcsc uae
